Alumni and Community Members (Friends of Bobst Library)
NYU Libraries welcomes alumni and community members to join Friends of Bobst Library and gain access to one of the nation’s leading academic research facilities.
Access for Alumni and Community Members
Alumni may gain access to Bobst Library by joining the Friends of Bobst Library. A gift of $175 entitles the donor to reading privileges for one academic year which runs from September 1st through August 31st. Privileges include on-site access to the Library's rich resources, including its special collections and electronic databases from 7am to midnight, seven days a week.
The $175 membership is also available to residents of Manhattan Community Boards 2 and 3. The Community Boards encompass the area between Canal Street and 14th Street, from the Hudson River to the East River.
Membership for non-alumni in areas outside of Community Boards 2 and 3 is available for a gift of $225.

Class of 2008
The Dean of NYU’s Division of Libraries in conjunction with NYU’s Alumni Relations is pleased to offer a special benefit to graduating seniors. Class of 2008 graduates will now be able to continue their on-site access to Bobst Library. For a nominal fee of $45, new graduates can join the Friends of Bobst Library for the 2008-2009 academic year and receive Reader cards valid through August 31, 2009.
How to Join
Graduates, alumni and neighbors can join in the following ways:
- Click here to visit NYU’s giving web site and select Friends of Bobst Library. You will receive your membership materials within 2 weeks of receipt of your gift.
- In Person: Visit the Library Privileges desk immediately to your left as you enter Bobst Library and sign up to receive your membership card the same day. Bobst Library is located at 70 Washington Square South, New York, NY 10012. (map)
- By Phone: Call the Friends of Bobst Library Coordinator, Michael Pittman, at 212.998.2446. We accept all major credit cards.
